Splits(Top photo) are with one photo. You can have the photo cut into pieces. The lab will do this for you. You pick out templates that show you what the picture will look like. They come mainly in squares and rectangles. I have not seen any triangles or circles.
Clusters(Photo above the paragraphs) are a group of photos that all have one commonality. For example, the split I am showing above is of landscape images I have created. There are 6 photos in the featured cluster, one of which was my "Tunnel of Trees" 2023 CA state fair photo. I have seen these as wall displays for families for example, a picture of the parents, each of the kids and the entire family. I have also seen these for one kid at different stages of their lives and for senior photos. Sometimes there is a dominant photo with smaller ones and sometimes they can all be the same size and shape! The possibilities really could be endless with these.
When hanging these up, you want to have another person, and be very skilled with a level and a measuring tape.
